Making unconscious conscious
Jun 09, 2022In my last article, I spoke about the importance of the INNER WORK for leaders, which is a part of leaders' growth.
The INNER WORK enables you to:
➡️understand yourself on a deeper level & explore the area of your blind spots
➡️free yourself from limitations that are invisible to you in order to reach your potential,
➡️transform to your best authentic version of self that is successful, fulfilled, inspires, and makes a positive impact acting from a conscious choice.
This article will give you a glance at some deeper insights about the INNER WORK which you definitely want to know.
LET START WITH BLIND SPOTS - WHAT ARE THEY?
Simply, they are 'what you do not know, that you do not know' about yourself.
They are INVISIBLE for you and UNCONSCIOUS and you have no chance to find it out on your own.
They carry lots of LIMITATIONS that shape the way you see yourself, others, situations, and act.
NOW, WHAT ARE THOSE LIMITATIONS IN THE BLINDSPOTS AREA?
They are unconscious thoughs and behaviors that we build over life, due to different life experiences - they helped us to survive and cope in the past.
In adulthood, they stay in our way to success, and fulfillment causing us stress, anxiety, overwhelm, tiredness, low energy, and other negative emotions.
LET ME SHARE WITH YOU SOME EXAMPLES
Have you ever wondered...
💥why focusing on achieving one thing after another does not make you feel happy?
AND AS A RESULT: you and your team are exhausted, you do not truly enjoy the present moment, lack to spot the good things, and limit appreciation.
💥 why you do not speak the truth, be honest with your employees or peers, and postpone giving honest feedback or having a difficult conversation?
AND AS A RESULT: you leave the tension in the air, let the low performance continue and affect the relationship.
💥why you are involved in many things at the same time and have busy agenda all the time?
AND AS A RESULT: it causes you and your team to be overwhelmed, brings chaos, and leaves things unaccomplished.
💥why do you focus on winning and being right in discussions?
AND AS A RESULT: you do not listen truly to what the other person wants to say, create a battle than a conversation to understand each other, collaborate and co-create together.
etc etc
DO YOU RECOGNISE YOURSELF IN SOME EXAMPLES?
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
Because those are your mechanisms of protection that and as you could see in the above examples, limit your potential and effectiveness as a leader.
WHAT DO YOU PROTECT YOURSELF FROM?
Feeling rejected, hurt, failing, feeling not good enough or worthy about yourself. etc
I know the above limitations well and since I am aware of them, where they came from and how they show up in my life, I have been working on letting them go and creating my new formula to thrive.
MY MESSAGE TO YOU IS:
- Leading being unaware of your blind spots and limitations affect your potential and effectiveness as a leader and it cost you and your team,
- If you want to make a positive impact, and inspire change, you need to do the INNER WORK
- The First step is, to discover your blind spots, uncoscious throughts and behaviors that limit you
- The next step is to develop habits that enable you to be to act consciously and be successful, happy and healthy leader who makes a positive impact and reaches your own's potential.
WHAT KIND OF LEADER DO YOU WANT TO BE - CONSCIOUS OR UNCONSCIOUS?
The choice is yours!
